Shortlands Breakfast and After School Cub

Monday to Friday, term time only.  Holiday clubs will begin from September 2020 - more information to follow.

Breakfast club – 7.30am - 8.40am

After school club – 3.20pm - 6.00pm.

What we offer

Purple House plan and deliver a range of activities to meet the needs of all the children. The children are free to choose from the variety of play equipment that is available to them or partake in an adult led activity each day for the variety of age ranges within the school.  Although we are not expected to follow the EYFS guidelines we agree with its importance and therefore aim to provide activities that cover all areas of the EYFS learning objectives and the curriculum.

What we provide

Purple House provide healthy, nutritional and delicious tea time options at every session. We aim to offer physical indoor and outdoor activities for the children to support the wellbeing of each individual child’s physical development in the club.

The food we provide at the Club is not intended as a substitute for a main evening meal. We promote independence, by encouraging the children to help to set up and prepare part of the tea, clearing away after themselves and washing up with the support of adults. We aim to meet all individual dietary requirements and parental preferences wherever possible and ensure fresh drinking water is available at all times.

Staffing

Our employees are recruited in line with ‘Safer recruitment’ and the ‘Keeping children safe in education’ guidance.  No employee enters a registered setting until they hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate, the details of which are shared with the school.  We are committed to safeguarding and regularly review and update our safeguarding policy and procedures. We maintain a staff/child ratio which is in line with Ofsted guidelines and ensures the safety of your children in our setting.  Ofsted no longer stipulate a specific ratio; therefore, we work on the basis of ensuring no more than 1:8 child: staff ratio (4-5 years old) 1:10 child: staff ratio (8 years and above).
